Being number 7 of 8 children was -- and still is -- wonderful. What a great experience, and what fun to grow up in such a fantastic environment that fostered imaginative play and creativity. This background, and the Calvert Hall High School art program is where it all began for me, design-wise. I was fortunate to have an instructor who demanded commitment and excellence. Mr. J’s influence brought out my best, which produced several scholarships to university. When I was 22 I graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art, which is consistently ranked as a top American art school by U.S News and World Report. My degree was in Visual Communication.

The summer after graduation I worked as a freelance graphic designer for North Charles Street Design Organisation, an elite Baltimore firm, gaining hands-on experience that strengthened my work ethic and widened my perspectives. Returning to University that fall, I continued to widen my experience and perspective. By then I had met my fantastic wife, Lisa, and was ready to apply what I had learned in the practical world. I began working as a graphic designer for an American corporation, Merry-Go-Round Enterprises.. MGRE had 1500 stores in 45 states nationwide.

I spent two years with MGRE before I finally began JWB&CO in Baltimore . But this was only the first step, as another goal was to move closer to my wife’s family in Australia.

Since 1996 JWB&CO has been operating as a full service design studio in Melbourne, Australia . Our past and present clients include schools, large corporations, charities and medium to large companies of all descriptions. We have won many awards for helping schools market themselves.

I hope you enjoy the site. Please feel free to contact us if there is any way our design team can help you exceed your design goals.

All the best,
Joe
